Wearing o’ the Green
March 17th, 2008 ChristinaTo all of my fellow Green Sisters, Warders, and friends:
Hope you did have a happy day today, enjoying yer wearin’ o’ the green!
I hope you read that as if Bayle Domon had said it.

Tags: blog stuffI’m going to try something different. Anyone who registers with the site, which you have to do to leave a comment, will be an Author. This means you can post to the site! I think this will be a better way for people to submit their photos.
I’m going to do this on a trial basis. If I find that spammers and other creatures of the Dark One are abusing the privilege, I will change the default role to Contributor. As a Contributor, people can still compose posts, but they won’t appear on the site until I approve them. This is another decent option.
When you post to the site, please limit your discussion to mostly Wheel of Time related topics, or occasionally other fantasy literature. Only Randland-style cursing is allowed. I will edit for grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. I may delete things that are inappropriate, like spam or off-topic stuff, but hopefully that will be a rare occurence.
Tags: blog stuffDo you love the Wheel of Time as much as I do? I need a few people who would like to post from time to time about WoT, since I don’t write as much as I’d like to anymore. If you’re interested, just leave me a comment on this post. In order to comment, you need to register for a site account. I can change your account status to Contributor, which will let you write posts.
There’s no pay involved. I’m not making any money here. But you can link to your own web page or Myspace profile or something when you sign each post. You hold the copyright on your posts, but you grant me the right to display them here on the site. I may edit some posts for silly things like grammar, spelling, and punctuation because I’m an editor at heart. I won’t edit for content unless something is wildly inappropriate, in which case I’ll email you about it. Please keep any cursing in the Randland style. Blood and bloody ashes or burn me are fine - even Mother’s milk in a cup! - but no f-bombs or other modern expletives.
What would you post about? Comment on the existing fan cast, pose some WoT theories, discuss any WoT-related news, write a memorial for Robert Jordan, or even post your fanfic. Please keep all fanfic PG-13. Some sexual situations are fine, as long as they aren’t explicit. Occasional non-WoT fantasy posts are alright. I’ve written about Harry Potter and such in the past. But only fantasy-related topics, and only if you can also post about WoT occasionally.
Sound good? I’d be glad to have you aboard!
Tags: blog stuffI am going to be making a labor-intensive switch to a new WordPress theme for The Wild Eggplant. I’m hoping the initial switch will be completed within the next few hours, so that the site is completely usable by visitors even if it’s not in its final optimized state.
The theme I’m switching to is the same one I’m using for Cutest Baby Ever. It’s a much cleaner look, easier to customize and modify templates, and it’s more search engine-friendly.
It also comes with the capability of adding a tag system to replace the category system. This will make it much easier to find exactly what you’re looking for on the site, especially when it comes to searching for unmatched characters in the WoT Fan Cast.
It is going to take me weeks to go back and update all of my old content to use the new tag system instead of the old categories, but you’ll still be able to browse everything the same as you can now. It will just be easier when I finish.
The biggest risk in this whole process is upgrading my WordPress installation itself. When I installed the newest version of WordPress for Cutest Baby Ever, WordPress decided to replace almost all of my apostrophes and some other punctuation marks with other ASCII characters and code. It took me quite some time to go back and fix every instance of the messy code. I hope the newer WordPress installation fixes the problem, but if not, please don’t be too alarmed if things look funny. I will get around to fixing them, but it will take time to get to everything.
Here’s to hoping for a smooth transition!
